Estepona

Despite exponential growth, Estepona, located 15 minutes from Marbella, retains its charm. It dates back to Roman times and its history can be told via Moorish fortifications and Roman villas. Future development is carefully planned to ensure the preservation of its identity and keep it relatively unspoilt. Heaving with magnificent boats, it is the best-equipped marina in Europe and it is home to three golf courses: Atalaya Golf (Tel. 952 88 28 12), Club De Golf Estepona (Tel. 952 11 30 81), Golf El Paraiso (Tel. 952 88 38 35).

Tapas bars, bistros, fish restaurants and international food can be found at the marina.  Most bars are open until 1am paying both Spanish and disco music, ‘Reinaldo’ is popular, and also ‘Chico Diez’ and ‘Attico’. Bars can also be found in the old town ‘Calle Real’ and also the ‘Port’ where there are lots of bars close to each other.

Estepona port holds a car boot sale on Sunday mornings, and there is an open-air market every Wednesday.

Estepona Harbour
Estepona Harbour

There is a great deal of character with here, with cobbled alleyways and two amazing plazas - The 18th century parish church of
La Virgen de los Remedios and the 1473 clock tower, The Torre Del Reloj.

There are plenty of beaches to choose from,
Playa De Guadalobon is at the entrance of Estepona and is very popular. La Rada Beach is one of the most popular, found in the centre of Estepona. It has numerous beach restaurants, expansive sands and lovely sea front and promenade. Playa Del Crosto is a beach that is highly recommended with a fantastic atmosphere for families just 5 minutes away from the marina so be aware it can become quite crowded. The Costa Natural is Spains first naturist beach for members only. (Temporary memberships are available).

‘Great beach at Estepona. A7 towards Malaga. Once you get to roundabout on A7 with the letters Estepona on the actual roundabout, take first exit, then at 3rd roundabout, take 1st exit immediately on to beach. The beach is enclosed and safe for children. All facilities you would expect and more, very cosy.’
